elevator = cfq | deadline | noop | as

cfq good for general use
deadline best for very high io like in database server
noop can prevent high io that cause high cpu
as for desktop system

concurency

sudo gedit /etc/init.d/rc
Look for CONCURRENCY=none and change it to:
CONCURRENCY=shell

preload

sudo aptitude install preload

profile

edit and enter the word 'profile' into boot command.
do it only once. do this after you done tuning all other tricks.
you might need to re-do this after you do other tune
